Lyric analysis in mental health settings

World of wordcraft

Come and learn all about the fabulous receptive method of lyric analysis!

If you're working with neuro-typical adults or adolescents then lyric analysis really needs to be in your toolbox.

Lyric analysis is an incredibly engaging and non-threatening intervention which you can use in a range of settings. But there's far more to this technique than just picking a song and playing it for your clients.

In this entertaining tutorial Danny takes you through a comprehensive process from assessing your client, choosing a song rich in verbiage, universal experience & topography of expression, through to providing several different methods of presenting your song to your client/s for maximum engagement and therapeutic outcome.

As a published author and with years of experience using this method in mental health and addiction settings, join Danny as he shares his love of words and verbal processing though lyric analysis.

Danny. DANNY. DANNY!!! I watched your CEU about lyric analysis. Your CEU should be a mandatory class for any college/university that teaches music therapy. OMG!!! I'll need to watch it several times just to absorb it all. I loved it!!! I'm so happy I was able to view it. Seeing your process in choosing the perfect song is a method I’m adding to my tool box. It will make my lyric analysis activity even more therapeutic and relevant to treatment. I've been doing this since 1999 and have become slightly jaded when learning new stuff outside of Shenandoah University but you were so engaging and actually fun to watch. Although you have the education and resources to back up your teachings, more importantly, at least for me, is that you spoke from experience and the heart.

I loved the lyrics analysis course. It is very comprehensive as it covers both the practical side of the application as well as evidence-based references. I have been using the techniques I learnt from Danny at work (mental health hospital setting). The techniques are particularly useful in psycho-education and helping patients with developing insights through looking at the lyrics supported by awesome music.
