Professor Jane Edwards
Professor Jane Edwards

Jane Edwards studied at The University of Melbourne becoming a Registered Music Therapist in 1986. Her clinical work has included work with children and families, and people with mental health challenges through the lifespan in a range of contexts. As a researcher she has continually strived to ensure that theoretical perspectives and research outcomes are accessible to practitioners within and beyond music therapy.

After completing her PhD in Paediatrics and Child Health in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Queensland 2000 she moved to Ireland to lead a new music therapy Master training at the University of Limerick where she was Director of the Music & Health Research Group from 2004-2013.

To date she has held academic appointments in seven universities in four countries (Australia, Ireland, Germany and the UK). She is currently the Editor-in-Chief for The Arts in Psychotherapy.

Professor Edwards is currently the Associate Dean, Research (Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education) at the University of New England.
